The Lord is good!
Don't listen to the voice of the enemy who wants to spread fear and anxiety.
Stay home as much as possible, wash your hands,
read and watch things that uplift
and turn your eyes to God.
Trust Him to bring us through.
Turn off the other stuff.
Yesterday, this was me in my favorite reading spot. I have a view out of my south window. The snow's melting. We may have a minor flood in the driveway, but I think the ground will soon thaw and soak that up.
In the foreground you see our flooding driveway,
and beyond the trees the puddles from melting
snow in the pasture. Swans and geese have been
landing in that thin strip of puddle halfway up
the hillside. I guess the lakes are still iced over.
I tend to pile everything I might possibly need
on the couch next to me when I'm reading.
This shot is from yesterday. See the thin strip
of water halfway up the hill? To the right of
the tree you can see a couple of swans. Lots of them
came later. Today we had quite a few geese.
Everyone's coming home! Many of the swans
overwintered here.
My back bedroom has been taken over by art
supplies. I put a drop cloth on the floor and put
all the grands art stuff back there and let them
go to town.
If we run out of canvases we're not above painting on
cardboard or old book covers!
My daughter Micah and her family lost her 15 year old
dog, Homer, on Thursday. He'd been sick for a while.
So, the girls did a little art therapy.
I just finished this book. It's pretty hilarious and witty.
Though she makes a few racy remarks now and then, on the
whole it's a delightful read for bookworms like
most of us.
I was halfway through the book before I realized
that her husband, George, was George Howe Colt
who wrote The Big House! Remember that book, Glenn?
Small world!
Yesterday my son-in-law, Adam, made a 10 hour round trip
down to southern Minnesota pulling a trailer.
When he came home the grandkids found that he'd
brought them home a black and white spotted pony!
There will be a settling in period to get
the pony acquainted with her new home and
with Micah's other horse. They're separated at present.
She seems to be a decent little pony.
Micah's a pretty good horse woman, though
she's been in semi-retirement for the last 8 years
while having lots of little babies to care for.
Now she's looking forward to working with the
horses. Mom will try not to worry. :)
I trust you're all making the best of this
unavoidable time of rest. As I drive into
my little town to check my mail I see people
riding bikes and horses, and taking walks with family.
I need to follow their example!
God bless all, and shalom!
First: Sorry for the loss of the dog Homer - - - I think you all were very sad. God loves all His creatures - so I belive strong on a seeing again in heaven in eternal happiness. Nothing is lost - -
ReplyDeleteI'm always intersted in weather: Thank you for these snow-meltig-photos!
Your text for this special worldwide crisis is very fine, I like it and put it into my heart.
Many greetings and blessings and good wishes from the silent Bavarian forest to Minnesota from Dori
A GREAT SPELL CASTER (DR. EMU) THAT HELP ME BRING BACK MY EX GIRLFRIEND.
DeleteAm so happy to testify about a great spell caster that helped me when all hope was lost for me to unite with my ex-girlfriend that I love so much. I had a girlfriend that love me so much but something terrible happen to our relationship one afternoon when her friend that was always trying to get to me was trying to force me to make love to her just because she was been jealous of her friend that i was dating and on the scene my girlfriend just walk in and she thought we had something special doing together, i tried to explain things to her that her friend always do this whenever she is not with me and i always refuse her but i never told her because i did not want the both of them to be enemies to each other but she never believed me. She broke up with me and I tried times without numbers to make her believe me but she never believed me until one day i heard about the DR. EMU and I emailed him and he replied to me so kindly and helped me get back my lovely relationship that was already gone for two months.

You have a lot going on! Geese returning, a new pony! I see that bird book and binoculars! And what a wonderful idea to put down that drop cloth and let the kids do all the art they want. I must remember that for when I have older grands.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading "The Big House." I read it twice, in fact. I LOVE houses. I may have to look up the wife's book too. Thanks!
How wonderful for Adam to bring home a pony. That's something those little girls will remember forever.
A pony!! That's exciting. Is this a small pony or a relatively big pony? Maybe when it gets more comfortable around its new home you could post a picture.
ReplyDeleteI will look for both of the books you mention. I truly miss the library now that it's closed down.
That was a Loooong journey with the horse!
ReplyDeleteYes, we must trust in God!
I keep thinking about doing some painting too- must look for my acrylic paints!
Hi Lisa! A pony! How fun! I love the art and painting on cardboard is a good idea. I knew I should save the boxes!
ReplyDeleteI am working on Jolly, little by little. Thanks for your patience. Sending heaps of love!
I'm looking forward to a picture of the pony. What a blessing that whole experience will be. I'm reading At the Back of the North Wind now, which is partly about the relationship between a child and a horse, which is not something I know about personally. :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved that first book by Anne Fadiman - so long ago I read it! Her second book I tried but it wasn't as easy to connect with. I went from there to read about her father, and later to be pleasantly surprised to find that connection to The Big House. Glad you have plenty of good books to delve into right now!
