Happy November!

Well, I've managed to stay away even longer than usual. I think I'm liking the computer less and less these days. Other than checking email and other necessaries, I like to stay off of it. Of course, I still seem to watch a lot of YouTube videos, but I can access those straight from the television. Lots of crafting and travel videos mainly. And some Bible study type stuff.

Anyway, we're busy with kids as usual. Micah takes the kids to homeschool co-op on Mondays, and Sully stays with me for about six hours on that day. He's not quite old enough for the classes yet, but he doesn't like being in the nursery, so he makes mischief. He's just fine here with me. I think he enjoys the one-on-one time. Every other week is MOPS (Mothers of preschoolers) and I watch the four oldest so Micah can enjoy some mom fellowship at church. That's only a few hours. Then Hazel and Audrey have been having basketball camp which is only 3 days long for an hour after school. I think they will be signed up for youth basketball after this. So, always something! I'm trying to help as I can so Micah doesn't have to haul all six kids to everything. We grandmas need to feel useful ya know! The kids usually spend their time here doing art, playing games on my kindle, watching cartoons and snacking. Sully likes to have a few rousing games of Slap Jack and Go Fish. Nothing too stressful for grandma, lol.

Bubba/Sully horsing around and crossing his eyes while he works his favorite puzzle.

Things are getting nippier all the time, though it looks like we'll have some balmy days in the low 50's this week. The woodstove is keeping us warm, and Adam is working hard to keep it stoked. I'm thankful for my good family! (Including those who live far away who may be reading this.)

I'm staying close to home a lot except for the occasional journey to my neighboring town for groceries and other small errands. I did finally go to the thrift store yesterday. I'm trying to buy less stuff, but I did bring home a few books. I found this pretty copy of Little Men and thought I'd read a little to see if it was interesting. A chapter later I realized it's such a charming book I'll just go on reading! Pom-pom made the little Beatrix Potter bookmark many years ago. Remember her, Pom?

I also got this book in the mail. I've listened to this author on some of my apologetics YouTube channels and like what he has to say.  :) I'll probably start reading this along with Little Men.

And now for a glimpse at my last bouquet of the year. Everything got frost bitten a while back, so this is an older photo. These were the last flowers from my pots, plus a couple of wild flowers. Our leaves have mostly fallen.
I recently finished reading Kitchen Privileges, which is Mary Higgins Clark's memoir. She talked about writing Mount Vernon Love Story, about George and Martha Washington, and it sounded interesting. Lo and behold, there it was on the thrift store shelf! So, I was glad to grab that.

Have I shown this before? I found this at another thrift store and thought maybe someday I'll get around to reading some of these. Maybe not, but the book is worth having just for the cover, don't you think?

I've done a lot of card making since my last post, but I've sent out some without taking pictures of them. It's all a blur! Here are a few starter sets I did remember to photograph. Two more players will add details to them.

Let's see what else I can find...
A Fairy swap.

This was for a Profile swap. We were in a group of 5 and you had to check out each player's profile to see what themes they liked for their cards and make them one to fit their preferences.

These were for a swap called "Cats and a Little Something Extra". Nope I didn't draw these. Cut up a book. *yikes*

And, lastly, a swap called "Animals Wearing Scarves".

By the way, most of my cards are collage. The only hand drawn ones are the cards for the Profile swap. I've had people compliment me on my drawing skills on cards that featured other people's artwork and I don't want to take credit for their work, lol. If something looks very skilled and complicated, it's probably not my work. I'm way too lazy to work that hard, ha ha. But thanks for putting up with all the photos! :)

I found this cool old recipe book at the thrift store a while back. It has tabs on the right hand side and divisions for different types of recipes, but you hand write the recipes on the blank pages. It's obviously very old. I have to admit, I never use recipes. I only make very simple meals. But I loved this old book and may write in some recipes I've collected just for the fun of it.

And that's the end of the story for today! Thanks for visiting and I hope you are all healthy and blooming where God has planted you.
Keep clinging to Him. He's our only Eternal Hope and our Rock.

Shalom!

  1. It's nice to know you're doing okay and keeping occupied with your art work and of course helping Micah with the kids. I think we're about done with helping with grands as these last two are now 18 and 12.

  3. I love old books. I used to not want to cut them up in any way, but over the years, I've changed that view. I say, let them live on in any permutation! I love the cards you created. I especially love that little fairy with the dark hair and bangs, so cute! And Animals Wearing Scarves, that's inspired fun!

  5. I forgot about making that cute Beatrix Potter bookmark! Thank you for reminding me! Your ATC's are lovely again! So fun! I saw a tiny copy of Little Women at The Tattered Cover Kids store last week. I kinda want to go back and get it. I could read it aloud to myself this December. Oh, I do love books. Mags took Jolly on three great dates. Pop over and see! Sending heaps of love to you!

  7. A wonderful blessing:

"I hope you are all healthy and blooming where God has planted you." Yes, HE is our eternal hope and our rock!
You are living with HIM and under his blessing, always encouraged to do good things

You are a fine Grandma, the children love you and feel your joy in trusting on the Lord. This is the best you can do. You take it somehow "easy" in the middle of the dayly challenges.

I am happy to read all this and to see, that you have a good energy and that you are blooming on your place.

Many Greetings from Dori from the Bavarian Forset.

Is is snow on the last beautiful photo?
