Grape leaves...

There is a beautiful wild grapevine in our pasture. I just noticed yesterday that it had grown to huge proportions, climbing over the tops of the wild plum bushes. I decided to borrow a short bit of vine and see what I could do with the leaves.

I painted these two pages of my scripture journal with a light wash of violet and added a border of green.

Then I took two of the smaller grape leaves and Mod Podged them to the upper left and lower right of the two page spread. I didn't dry them or press them. I just smeared Mod Podge on the bottom and then a generous layer over the top. I wondered what would happen. I figured I was sealing out the air, so maybe they would stay green. Actually, I didn't completely cover the back of the leaves with Mod Podge, so maybe some oxygen pockets remained there. In any case, they turned brown in spots, but I think they still look cool. Don't know if they'll change any further.

I'm going to take my time deciding what to write on these pages. I may also go back and twiddle around some more with some of the other pages. I want to come up with some more creative ideas. Anyway, enjoying this journal journey!

Shalom!

WOYWW and The Diva's Challenge...

Time once again to explore the workdesks of the international community of artistes! Don't be shy! Snoop and be snooped! To find out more go to Julia's Stamping Ground!

My desk, alas, is quite uninspired this week. It's a month until my nursing classes begin so I've finally gotten down to the task of gathering documents which must be turned into the College Lab Assistant two weeks before classes begin on August 27. Of course, I procrastinated! I've finished everything except getting a copy of my immunizations from the doctor. I'm hoping to get this done on Thursday when I'm already in town.

Then for the Diva's Challenge we were to use the Mi2 (me, too) tangle. I hadn't tried this one before, so I took a fairly standard tack with this challenge. This tangle is a lot of fun!

I added this photo after-the-fact to show some new attempts at Mi2! ;)

As school looms nearer, I may need to spend some time reviewing my A&P text. It's been 8 months since I've been in school since I skipped spring semester. I feel so RUSTY! Hopefully, I can still fit in some art.

I hope you all have a great WOYWW and/or fun with the Diva's Challenge!

Shalom and let's all enjoy the rest of the summer!

WOYWW! (I forgot!!!)

Feel like peeping or creeping on other people's desks? Julia at The Stamping Ground makes it not only legal, but a desirable human trait! Come join me!

Actually, this is what my desk looked like on Wednesday...not much going on.

So this morning I kicked into gear; day off ya know. So this is what my slant-top desk looks like.

I worked on my first Creative Classroom assignment. I won this class through the Sketchbook Challenge. My finished project was this "Have a Sunny Day" card. We were supposed to work on blending with colored pencil. I'm not an ATC or stamper person, so I worked with what I had including a pencil illustration I found in an old children's magazine.

Then I worked on this zentangle inspired art for the Diva's Challenge. It was supposed to be made using the Olympic logo. Don't know why I went with all organic inspired tangles, but that's where it went! :D

And some close-ups just for artsyness's sake...

It's been a fun day of drawing and coloring! Shortly I'll have to get out and do some weeding in the garden.

Enjoy YOUR day!
Shalom.

A little decoupage...

I picked a small bouquet of wildflowers while walking around the pasture fence yesterday. (Checking it to see why it wasn't sparking!) So I decided to dry a few to decoupage onto my scripture journal. I hope to eventually have it positively encrusted with flowers!

Have you ever dried daisies? I wasn't sure they would turn out, but they look pretty good!

I also picked some hyssop. I used to call this mint (and it is in the mint family), but I found out later it's hyssop. Like in the Bible?

Here I'm Mod Podging a daisy and some little yellow flowers (cinquefoil?) to the back cover of my journal. I love this! The columbine looks great, don't you think?

I also felt like splashing a little watercolor on paper, so I did a little background painting on these pages of text. The pages actually came out of my scripture journal because I was reducing the number of pages to make room for expansion as I added stuff to the pages. (Does that make sense?) I will, hopefully, do some pen and ink drawing on these later.

Yesterday I did a couple more drawings using the auraknot tangle. It's a lot of fun, so I keep trying new things.

I'd better get to bed!! I had a great weekend doing a little art, spending some time outside and helping with baby Audrey. Please send up a prayer for my daughter Micah. She has to take it easy and rest a lot until baby Hazel is born. That's hard for her to do! She needs six more weeks for Hazel to be a good size. Thank you, Lord, for protecting Micah and baby Hazel, in Jesus's name. Amen.

Good-night and shalom.

WOYWW!

I know, I know, it's still Tuesday! But I caught my self actually DOING SOMETHING at my workdesk and I thought, "Hey! I'd better get a photo of this!"

We had company for a few days and the artistic bug just hasn't been biting much since they left. But inspiration started flowing again this morning, so I jumped out of bed, brushed my teeth and sat down to do this little bit of painting and drawing. (before breakfast even)

I thought I'd like to do something different than my usual squares of watercolor in my scripture journal, so I painted this background and I will write over it. It's supposed to be the Garden of Eden. Well, at least it gives the impression I hope! I'd like to do more of this type of thing or at least have some variety in my backgrounds.

I got very inspired by the Diva's Weekly Challenge this week. We're doing a tangle called auraknot and it's lots of fun. My son asked me to do a zentangle to decorate a CD cover for a song he plans to record. (Isn't he a nice son?) I'm fiddling around with some ideas, so that's what you see on my slant-top desk...

Glad to be back after missing last week! To see more creative workdesks around the world hop on over to Julia's Stamping Ground and join the fun of snooping into other's workspaces! :D

Shalom!

A little zentangle fun...

The Diva's Challenge for this week looked REALLY HARD!  In reality, it was pretty easy once you knew how to do it. The tangle for the week is the auraknot. Here are several versions I drew. Some heavily influenced by the examples shown on the video, which I'm including at the end of this post.

The plain black and white versions...

And the more colorful versions...

This is so much fun! Here's the video...

Shalom all!
