A couple of things...

I've gone back to my old copy of Rendering in Pen and Ink by Arthur Guptill. This is an exercise on values. I love doing these. It's kind of like doodling! I did these with my fave Pilot Precise V7 pen. I just wish they were waterproof, because they're easy to find on the shelf at Walmart.

I'm trying to do more sketches of children playing. This is the first official try. This was done with a ballpoint pen, and I have to say I prefer the felt type pens. Well, it's a start!

Well, I'm off to work! You all  have a great day!
Shalom!

Doing a little drawing and colored penciling...

Is penciling a word?

I have plans for this woodpecker. The plans may or may not come to fruition so, in the superstitious tradition of wannabe authors everywhere, I will keep those plans to myself for the present. This is just a beginning on a project that has been percolating in the back of my mind for years.

It feels good to be doing art at my little table again.

Pom, thanks for your encouraging remarks on my other blog as I announced my withdrawal from nursing school. It was such a difficult decision. I didn't want to let anyone down, but I had to do what was right for my own peace of mind. It just wasn't what I was cut out for. I feel such peace! And I'm sleeping much better and depression has fled. So, I think it was the right thing to do. I appreciate my little job and the fact that I can come home and enjoy my life with my husband. God will supply our needs as He always has. It doesn't all depend on me! :) What a revelation!

Blessings and shalom to all who visit here!

Best 62 Cents I Ever Spent...

Yes, you heard right! Sixty-two cents! (plus shipping)

Used from Amazon, but still glorious!

So many pretty drawings and little booklets and things to open and look at!

A basket full of guinea pigs...

An envelope containing a letter. This is my first look through the book. I haven't looked closely at things yet. I'm savoring the thought!

Little drawings...

Proofs from her first book...

Pretty paintings...

A copy of Peter Rabbit in b/w embedded in the back cover...

An Illustrated Journey also arrived yesterday! I love to snoop through other people's sketchbooks! This book contains drawings from many different people's travel sketchbooks, so there are lots of styles and viewpoints.

So, there's a sneakpeek into a couple of wonderful books that I expect to get a lot of joy out of perusing!
And here are a few photos of my grandgirl, Audrey, the budding artist. You may notice her red nose. She took a tumble and her nose came into contact with a window seat. Poor gal! But she's fine and full of vim and vigor!

I gave her a sketchbook which I purchased at Walmart and didn't like the way the pages come out so easily. She doesn't care! Crayons!! Yay!

And here's Hazel in her new high chair. She's a big people now! Lookin' like a pro!

Well, that's what's new and exciting at our place.

Have a great day full of shalom from the Lord!

My Valentine's gifts!

I just ordered two books from Amazon for my Valentine's gift!

I found a copy of Beatrix Potter's Journal for 69 cents! (Of course, there is shipping, but it was still CHEAP!) I also ordered...

Fun stuff!

Well, off to bed. Must be fresh for school tomorrow. Shalom, dear people!

Wind in the Willows inspiration!

Thought I'd do a little sketch in honor of Pom's copy of Wind in the Willows, which is finally winging its way home after a long journey!

This is the first drawing I've done in a while. It was fun!

Looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for the next adventure, Pom! Also, can't wait to see what everyone did with the book!

I just had to save this cute sticker off of your last package, Pom. She is now decorating the back of the little book that I sketched Badger in. :)

We had a snow day today. No school and we did a lot of digging out. It was kind of a nice change of pace!

Shalom and goodnight!

An interesting old book...

During one of my college writing classes, Nature Writers, we studied several writers from the "olden days". Gilbert White was one of them and I've wanted to read this book ever since. I found this e-version on my favorites list this morning while I was deleting some of the dead wood, and thought I'd put it here on my blog so I would remember to look it over. Some of you might find it a pleasant read!

You can find the e-version of The Natural History of Selborne here!

Not being very artistic lately, but I'm peeking at art blogs and browsing through An Illustrated Life as I get a chance for some artistic inspiration.

Blizzard!

Hope I can get out tomorrow morning for school. But today I'll enjoy being inside where it's cozy!

Stay warm and enjoy a good book or movie.
Shalom from Minnesota!
