This was a much more zen-like experience than last week's challenge, which I WAY over-tried on! Anyway, here's my zentangle using a blind string...(Gee, I probably could've used this one for Earth Day!)
I had punched holes in these pages to put them in a cute little notebook, but didn't like the results. Too small and cramped. But not a bad size for zentangling, though not regulation.
To see more zentangle wonders go to The Diva's blog! They're just fun to look at! :D
Shalom and have a great day!

a belated Earth Day ZIA...
It's not finished, but I thought I'd better post my Earth Day ZIA (zentangle inspired art) in time for the slideshow at The Diva's Challenge! :) You'll probably have to click on the image to make it larger. (The more I look at it, the more I think simpler would have been better...and more zen-like to draw! Now I'm using it as a coloring page. More fun than the actual drawing!)
I hope to add more to the border area and maybe add some color. The bit of Float Fest at the north pole is supposed to represent the northern lights. (If you have to explain, maybe it didn't work? lol!)
Hope everyone had fun with this week's challenge! I'm going to look at others' art today. I didn't want to look before I finished mine.
Have a happy day! Shalom!

WOYWW?
It's late, so this will be a quickie! :)
I'm still working on the Earth Day zentangle for the Diva's Weekly Challenge. As usual, it takes me quite a bit of time just looking up tangles and deciding what to use...
Here's where I jot down all of the possibilities...
And here's my main desk. Still a mess from my last watercolor painting. The Bible is for looking up a scripture that I may incorporate into my zentangle. Earth Day will be long gone before I'm finished, but I didn't want to rush through this. So many ideas, so little time!
I hope you all have fun looking at workdesks the world over! To find the links go to Julia's blog and start hopping! :)
Nighty-night and peace to all!

Pom Pom's Teacup...
See, I said I would do it!
As shown on Pom Pom's Ponderings...
My delightfully messy desk...
I had a relaxing evening drawing and painting this cute teacup as well as watching some of Danny Gregory's video interviews of artists. Bob's watching ultimate fighting, which isn't my cup of tea, if you'll pardon the pun. ;)
I think next time I'll just use pencil and then watercolor. The ink lines are kind of harsh with a watercolor painting. I'll save ink for black and white drawings. Until I changge my mind...
Good-night and God bless!

A sketch from last night...
It's supposed to be Petra. I think I'll work on it a little more, but I thought I'd take a photo in case this is as far as I get! There's a lot more detail than I thought!
What are you drawing?
Shalom and have fun with your art! :)

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
I chortled in my joy!
I really should start an art blog called "Cheapskate Art". I'm on the lookout for cheap materials that work for my drawing. With a tight budget I can't often spend lots of money on art materials. I've been looking for a good waterproof drawing pen that I can use watercolors with without the ink running all over.
Today I purchased two different types of Sharpies. They are "water resistant". I was looking for the word "waterproof", but these were cheap so I took a chance!
Here's the result after drawing a little lion-man face. (Don't know where THAT came from. Just started doodling.) Then I slopped on some watercolor and TA-DAH! The ink stayed put!
The Sharpies do bleed through slightly. At least the heavier one that I used for the facial features.
But that's okay with me. I usually only use one side of the page when I use watercolors because this is a sketchbook and the paper gets sort of wavy anyway.
These are the pens I used. The ultrafine one is a marker and the fine one is a pen. Hence, the ultrafine lines are actually heavier than the fine ones. I wasn't aware of the differences in Sharpie's markers and pens. Now I know.
Happy artmaking on the cheap!
Shalom for now...

I think the pens will deliver a nicer line, but they kind of scratch over the surface of the paper. Will they wear out quickly? My quest continues!
Happy artmaking on the cheap!

Finally, a zentangle!
It's been a while since I've taken The Diva's Challenge, so I decided to take part this week. The challenge was to design a zentangle using a box within a box (or something like that!). Here's my interpretation...
You'll notice that I made a watercolor "smear" in the background. I was actually just doodling with watercolors and didn't know what to do with them, so I used this one as my background.
To see other's answers to this week's challenge go to the Diva's blog!
Shalom, and I hope it stops snowing SOON! :D

Trying to capture a sunrise...
I had a hankering to capture a sunrise in colored pencil. I didn't do as great a job as I'd hoped, but here are the results. Two sunrises on one page!
I had a hard time getting good copies with my camera. The colored pencil was too light. Oh well...
That's all for tonight. Shalom to all!

Saturday sketches...
It's been a day of little snow flurries, a little rain, etc. Seems like I spent most of the day being tired, then took a nap and now I'm ready to go at 8 p.m.!
Are any of you getting these annoying pop ups at the bottom of your pages? I think I have a bug in my computer. I hate when that happens!!
Anyway, here are the two little bird sketches I did just now.
Have a great evening! I think I'll read a little while Bob's watching basketball!
Shalom!

Take your place on the slanty top desk!
Ah! Hubby snuck me some ice cream! Better eat it up!

Today's sketch...
A small vignette from my desk...
It's probably a mistake to show a photo of my model, but here it is...
This was a lot of fun! I wasn't worrying about making it perfect. My perspective is certainly off quite a bit, but I was just relaxed, making a quick sketch. I need to do this more often!
Shalom, all!

WOYWW!
So What's on YOUR Workdesk this Wednesday? That's what we're trying to find out as we hop from blog to blog all around the world. You can join the fun at Julia's Stamping Ground! Come on!
My usual desktop flotsam...
A quick sketch from this morning...
Still working on that book dream...
Reading some other people's books to get an idea how to write my own...
And a little stash of Easter candy!
Mostly I'm thinking creative thoughts about the story I'm working on, but I'm going to try to do a little sketching every day, even if it's just a very small sketch like the one above!
Hope you're all having a great WOYWW!
Now off to Julia's to follow some links! :)
Shalom!
