Baby tomato!

My first bit of produce was noticed this morning!
The rest of the plants are also doing well.

I'm just beginning my three day vacation/weekend! Of course, I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't go back to sleep, so a nap might be in order later.
I'm having fun with Sketchbook Skool. Here are two more sketches I made for my class with Danny Gregory.

Our teacher for this week (Koosje Koene) is trying to get us to go outside to sketch. We'll see if she succeeds with me!
I found this note slipped under my door last night. (That's how we communicate around here.)
Dean is one of the older residents of the building. I think he's lived here for quite some time. It will be a good chance for me to get to know my neighbors. And the gazebo isn't too far away... (Please excuse the bird poo on my balcony railing. Sheesh.)

I just finished reading Over Hill and Dale, the second book in Gervase Phinn's Dales trilogy, and I ordered the third book, Head Over Heels in the Dales
I'm really enjoying his humorous and heartwarming stories of the little Yorkshire children and their teachers.
Meanwhile, I'm currently reading Merry Hall by Beverly Nichols, another favorite English author.
Hope you're enjoying some good reading and other fun pursuits this summer. The month of June is passing quickly!

Shalom on your weekend!

  2. You are doing nice art this week, Lisa, and I hope you do get to go outside to draw some. It has been so hot here and now it is rainy again. My garden is only herbs and marigolds and one yucca plant that is blooming for the first time ever. Usually the deer eat the first emerging blooms so it never makes it. About the Legos, the fox was my very favorite in the exhibit.

    1. Thunder and lightning today, so I didn't get outside to sketch. But I did do an ATC and got in a visit with my daughter and grands!

  3. Hi Lisa, Thanks so much for your comment on my blog. I have noticed you on Gretchen Joanna's - she's a great blogger and blog friend - I learn a lot from here and her journey. I still have my husband, I am just 39, but to have my husband I needed to uproot myself of my whole life (we lived in different countries/places, (Ottawa Canada; NJ, USA)) and I am still trying to build a new life here. I am still pretty isolated in terms of friends because of various factors that we can't really control. I love your blog and really appreciated your words! and your children and grandchildren are lovely! The apartment you live in looks beautiful. It would be a big adjustment. I love that you have a GK Chesterton quote on your blog; I love him and Lewis very much. God bless you this day!

  4. Oh! Your little tomato! When I saw the gazebo over your railing I envisioned you just hopping over and floating down :-) but I guess you better not try that. Take the long way around.

I agree with PomPom about the book!

    1. Ha ha! I don't think I'd float very gracefully! Thanks for the book encouragement. Maybe when I'm semi-retired...and not SO tired. :)

Good idea to contact you neighbours by small visits for example on birthday!

    Nice drawings!

Your heart and mind is always thankful and peaceful!

  6. Your comfy couch looks like a wonderful spot to nap!
I'll bet you do just that when you get home from work.

  7. Your plants look beautiful and very healthy -- you must've picked a perfect spot for them. I love that they have little parties for neighbors at the gazebo. What a nice way to spend time together and build a feeling of community and security. Those books sound very interesting -- tell us more :)
