Bike ride!

I went for that bike ride mentioned in the last post. I took gazillions of pictures, hoping to find something to use for a drawing. I tried to get some close-ups of plants to try with my new colored pencils. Here's a sampling...

Heading west.

We used to have a nice old wooden railroad bridge. But, alas, somebody thought it was dangerous, so it was replaced by this monstrosity.

Pistachio waits patiently.

If I stand on my tiptoes I still can't get my nose over the top. Bob and I used to rest our elbows on the top rail of the old bridge and enjoy the beautiful view. Not possible now. (But NOBODY's gonna fall off this bridge!)

I love this pretty spot by the bridge.

This was my first scribbled attempt with my pencils. Would you believe out of the two sets of pencils there was only one grey?
If I'm smart I'll go to bed soon. It's getting dark, 9:26 p.m. and I have to get up at 5. I sure enjoyed my first long journey on Pistachio! One and a half miles out and the same distance back. And uphill both ways! :D
Good-night and peace to all.

  1. Such lovely photos.
I read your blog for the first time today. I'm sorry for your loss.
I live in ND but have relatives in MN. My brother just inherited a farm near Baudette, is that near where you live?
Such a beautiful part of the country.
    Blessings to you,
    Lori

    1. Hi Lori! I'm not sure where Baudette is, but it's not very near. Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll stop in again! :)

  2. That's the sort of bike ride I would love to do, and in fact I *used* to do (without the picture-taking) before we lived in the suburbs. I'll look forward to what further art will come from those photos!

I like the drawing of Golgatha, so full of hope and summerlight! You have this bright light in front of your eyes and in your heart!

    1. Thanking the Lord for good knees! Nope, not one soul that I know of has ever fallen off of the old bridge. "They" like to take all the adventure out of life! ;)

  5. Pistachio is a darling name :) I know you'll have many hours of delight on that trusty steed. Beautiful photos, btw. I love the light flowing through the leaves. Shame about the bridge -- now it's too tall to play Pooh Sticks on too!

    1. Pooh sticks! That would be fun to play there. They call it progress...sigh. ;)

She's back on the roof hooks and I must get her down immediately!
    I like your art, friend.
