The challenge for this week over at Inspiration Avenue is to photograph, paint or sketch something vintage. Something that brings back memories of the old days. This brought to mind a sketch I made recently using a drawing of Ernest Shepard's from the A.A. Milne book "Now We Are Six". It awakens memories of children playing in the sunshine of an open meadow.

What a sweet scene.
ReplyDeleteJust what I love, innocence and simplicity!!
ReplyDeletereminds me of my backyard in Saskatoon when I was 10. We used to sneak to the corner candy store and buy penny candy (ok, it was up to 5 cents by the late 70's, lol.) Great submission!

ReplyDeleteI like this. You captured the days of old when children played outside and used their imagination! Nice sketch!

I love A. A. Milne's stories, and your sketch is charming. I love the haircuts on the children. It reminds me of how I thought Christopher Robin was a girl when my mom would read me Winnie the Pooh. He had that same little bobbed haircut...plus I didn't know anyone named Christopher but my next door neighbor was named Robin and she was a girl! So of course Christopher Robin had to be a girl!! No one could change my mind.
ReplyDeleteVery evocative sketch - wish I could sketch (without the hours and hours of practice, thank you very much!) :) Great IA entry.
ReplyDeleteOh how adorable. I confess I have never read any A. A. Milne, but I feel like I know a lot about the author by just seeing this lovely drawing you have created. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love A. A. Milne's work and your image is a wonderful tribute.
