What's on my workdesk? A pleasant clutter of paints and a work in progress for the Ayala Art Challenge. This is my fourth Modigliani copy for the challenge. I got tired of painting women with long necks, so I chose a landscape instead. It's sort of a mess, but I will fiddle with it some more before calling it quits. I'm enjoying just messing around with paints!
Sometimes I find myself thinking that I have to have a goal for my art, such as becoming a professional and selling artwork. Why? Do people who knit have to become professional knitters? Do people who play baseball have to become professional baseball players? No! So, I'm going to try not to feel guilty for taking the time to enjoy art for art's sake. How about you? :)

I'm with you. I want to make art because I enjoy it. It's what I do to relax. If I turn it into a business, then that's just one more thing that I'll have to stress about!
ReplyDeleteAmen, sistuh! :D
DeleteI too just want to enjoy art, however I have to argue with that ego, or whatever, that sits on my shoulder. Beautiful painting of the trees.
ReplyDeleteComing to visit! :D
DeleteI'm always bouncing back and forth on this topic in my mind. I gave up on my art to sell and settled for getting cards and projects getting published. That seemed to satisfy me...lol But I also love doing things just for myself like altered art, which also satisfies me! waving hi from my balcony in the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteWaving back at ya! I'd like to try selling some designs to greeting card companies someday. Any advice? I'm coming over to see your desk! :D
Deletei think you have to enjoy your art and not worry about deadlines or selling it,its my time to relax, have a great week :)

p.s it would be a good idea to turn off your word verification as it makes it hard to leave comments,x
Thanks, Kay! I wasn't even aware that word verification was turned on. :)
DeleteWow what a great work in progress ... Just beautiful!
DeleteYou're so right - you just got to enjoy what you do. Fab art work. Take care & enjoy snooping the WOYWW desks, it's now Thursday but I'm still nosing! Zo xx 74
ReplyDeleteYour painting is beautiful! I actually sell my knitting and cardmaking at a local craft fair. I enjoy sharing what I make. If it ever became a stresser then I would definitely quit selling it. I'm actually planning to open an etsy shop. I don't look at it as a money maker but just to keep me in supplies so I can continue to create.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Hugs,
Kay
